‘Alienation is produced by the fragmentation of the labour that produces machines. Is the process of making these 
articles a kind of meditation - on the effect that machines have on our consciousness of ourselves, on the awareness 
that machines have an effect on consciousness, that consciousness is ultimately materially produced?’

After Human is a project that brought together five artists who, using a range of different subject matter, make work that explores metaphorically the production of artwork itself. Whether dealing with the impact technology has on our consciousness, the search for an alternative spirituality, or the systemisation of our interaction with one another, this work objectively examines how our surroundings mediate perception, and how this mediation in turn effects the contemporary art object.  This project was first exhibited in Glasgow in Spring 2007.The exhibition was staged in a shop unit in the Trongate area of Glasgow .
