PRODUCTION REPRODUCTION REPETITION

“The activities of Fay Incorporated have always invoked curiosity, whilst the management attempt to resist definition the workforce continue to produce items that undoubtedly comment on working routines, repetition and the boundaries between creation and production”

Using analogue equipment and manual labour, Fay Inc. focuses its energies on documenting production and producing documents. Operating on the boundary between art and industry, their labour places “work” itself under question, destabilising notions of both everyday routine and sporadic creativity.

Fay Incorporated are relocating to the Toilet Gallery for two weeks in June. Using this space as their factory floor they aim to continue their manufacturing process. Fay Inc’s raw materials are paper, ink, analogue equipment and their own products. These will be fed back into their creative system in order to make more books, more images and more documents, each blurring the boundary between the real and the fictitious, the necessary and the superfluous.

“For our staff, the repetitious action, reiterates our emphasis on PROCESS and our idea of WORK as being a durational performance sustained throughout one’s vocational life”
